Course Overview

Morphological Crystallography (Choice of Unit Form, Tabulation of Forms and Angles, Indexing of Forms, Stereographic Projection, Description of the 32 Crystal Classes, Symmetry, Classes, Notation, etc.). Bravais Lattices. Crystal Structure and the 230 Classes of Space Symmetry. Methods of Mineral Analysis (X-Ray Crystallography, X-Ray Fluorescence). Crystallochemistry. Synthesis of Minerals. Optical Mineralogy.
Structure of the Earth. Meteorites. Minerals in Igneous, Sedimentary, and Metamorphic Rocks and in Ore Deposits. Physical Properties of Minerals. Classification and Uses of Minerals.
